UNIQUE NICHE Dirty Dogs Get Spa Treatment A trip in a car can sometimes be a daunting task for an animal. But you're likely to find a line of happy four- legged companions heading into Kelton's True Value Hardware & Pet in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. That's because Kelton's has Murfreesboro's only free dog wash facility. Able to accommodate anything from a purse- sized pooch to a Great Dane, the tub allows pet owners a spot to bathe their pets, and snag a treat or toy while they're at it. "It's there to get people talking about the business, and there's no money tied up in it other than equipment," Kelton says. "It's to raise awareness of the store and what we have, and hopefully they'll tell their friends." The wash consists of a purpose-built tub with steps, hot and cold running water and supplied shampoo and conditioner. Owners can bring their own cleaning supplies if they wish, and while the facility has a forced-air dryer, Kelton recommends customers bring towels for their pets. It isn't a surprise that Kelton's puts so much emphasis on its pet department. Kelton says his store was in pet supplies even before it added hardware in 2009. "For us, working with the pets is a very emotional engagement. We tend to sell higher-end pet products, and it's a market that we're trying to push pretty heavily," Kelton says. Kelton's True Value Hardware & Pet in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, offers a tub where pet owners can give a bath to pets of any size. SIMPLY SLIP, ZIP, RE-GRIP. No gluing, heating or mess. Re-Grip provides a safe and comfortable non-slip grip to any tool, handle or lever. ADD A GRIP TO ANY TOOL OR HANDLE Visit re-grip.com for information and a product demonstration.
