RETAILER PROFILE Iowa Retailer Leaves Lasting Legacy with Business LeRoy Whannel of Whannel Hardware in Traer, Iowa, which opened in 1932, was the second-generation owner. He was a World War II veteran and spent his life building and operating the store. Whannel recently died, but his legacy of service and community remains.
