Tracie White, HPM's energetic talent development manager, succinctly explains the agenda. "We're here to build a more united us." The meeting is all about getting employees to work together and connecting to those in other departments. 3. Let Groups Work Together The timer starts, and each team starts building their tower. Everyone contributes. Most towers follow a similar pattern: The bucket is the base with masking tape as the fastener that holds everything together. But eventually, as the timer stops, one tower inches a bit taller than the rest, and a winner is declared. 2. Start the Activity White divides the group into several teams, each with a similar goal: Build a tower with a bucket of supplied items found around the store. The team with the tallest tower wins. Before the building begins, they have a few minutes to plan. White encourages everyone to contribute to the plan and to listen to their co-workers' ideas. 4. Find Key Takeaways Everyone enjoys the bout of friendly competition, but it doesn't take long for them to start discussing what they learned from the activity. Common themes emerge, including accountability, communication, respect and healthy relationships. For White, it's been a successful meeting.
