Now in its 22nd year, this program honors the creativity, diligence and hard work that retailers under the age of 35 display each day. From improving their businesses to strengthening their communities, these retailers are truly committed to their companies and moving the industry forward. Honorees from across the U.S. and Canada were judged on a range of factors, including community involvement, continuing hardware education and career highlights. Honorees were hand-selected as some of the best and brightest in the industry. The eight honorees represent three categories, including stores with annual sales under $2 million, stores with annual sales over $2 million and retailers who operate multiple locations. Congratulations to the following 2018 honorees. Under $2 Million in Annual Sales • Ronna Kilts—manager, Mattson's Hardware in Howard City, Michigan • Megan Zarbano—owner, Handy Hardware Hank in Valley City, North Dakota Over $2 Million in Annual Sales • Sean Angelo—general manager, Budget Home Supply in Longmont, Colorado • Taylor Baker—owner, Foothills Hardware & Builders Supply in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina • Michael Wilson—general manager/dealer owner, Wilson's Home Hardware Building Centre in Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia Multiple Stores • Byron Clouse—owner, Lewiston Ace Hardware in Lewiston, Michigan • Nate Ludwig—general manager, Dazey's Building Center in Garberville, California • Diana Newton—vice president, Bay Hardware in Seal Beach, California "Showcasing the achievements of our Young Retailer of the Year honorees to the industry is one of the highlights of the NRHA All-Industry Conference," Scott Wright, executive director of NRHA's Retail Leadership Institute, says.
